Chapter 1

1:1Paul a prisoner of Jesus Christos, and our brother Timothy, to Philemon our dear friend, and fellow helper,
1:2And to our dear sister Apphia, and to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the Church that is in your house:
1:3Grace be with you,and peace from Theos our Father, and from the Kyrios Jesus Christos.
1:4I give thanks to my Theos, making mention always of you in my prayers,
1:5(When I hear of your love and faith, which you have toward the Kyrios Jesus, and toward all Saints)
1:6That the fellowship of your faith may be made effectual, and that whatever good thing is in you through Christos Jesus, may be known.
1:7For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because by you, brother, the Saints' bowels are comforted.
1:8Therefore, though I be very bold in Christos to command you that which is convenient,
1:9Yet for love's sake I rather appeal to you, though I be as I am, even Paul aged, and even now a prisoner for Jesus Christos.
1:10I ask you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds,
1:11Which in times past was to you unprofitable, but now profitable both to you and to me,
1:12Whom I have sent again:you therefore receive him, that is, my own bowels,
1:13Whom I would have retained with me,that in your stead he might have ministered to me in the bonds of the Gospel.
1:14But without your mind would I do nothing, that your benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
1:15It may be that he therefore departed for a season, that you should receive him forever,
1:16Not now as a servant, but above a servant, even as a brother beloved, especially to me:how much more than to you, both in the flesh and in the Kyrios?
1:17If therefore you count our things common, receive him as myself.
1:18If he has hurt you, or owes you anything, that put on my accounts.
1:19I Paul have written this with my own hand:I will recompense it, although I do not say to you, that you owe moreover to me even your own self.
1:20Yes, brother, let me obtain this pleasure of you in the Kyrios:comfort my bowels in the Kyrios.
1:21Trusting in your obedience, I wrote to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.
1:22Moreover also prepare me lodging:for I trust through your prayers I shall be freely given to you.
1:23Epaphras my fellow prisoner in Christos Jesus salutes you,
1:24Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow helpers.
1:25The grace of our Kyrios Jesus Christos be with your spirit, Amen. Written from Rome to Philemon, and send by Jesus a servant.
