Haggai
Chapter 1
1:1In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, the first day of the month, came the word of YHWH (by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai) to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, a prince of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, saying,
1:2Thus speaks YHWH of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, that YHWH's House should be built.
1:3Then came the word of YHWH by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
1:4Is it time for yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this House lie waste?
1:5Now therefore thus saysYHWH of hosts, Consider your own ways in your hearts.
1:6You have sown much, and bring in little:you eat,but you have not enough:you drink, but you are not filled:you clothe you,but you be not warm:and he that earns wages, puts the wages into a broken bag.
1:7Thus saysYHWH of hosts, Consider your own ways in your hearts.
1:8Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build this House, and I will be favorable in it,and I will be glorified, saysYHWH.
1:9You looked for much, and lo, it came to little:and when you brought it home, I did blow upon it. And why, saysYHWH of hosts? Because of my House that is waste, and you run every man to his own house.
1:10Therefore the heaven over you stayed itself from dew,and the earth stayed her fruit.
1:11And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, upon all that the ground brings forth:both upon men and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.
1:12When Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest with all the remnant of the people, heard the voice of YHWH their Elohim, and the words of the Prophet Haggai (as YHWH their Elohim had sent him) then the people did fear before YHWH.
1:13Then spoke Haggai YHWH's messenger in YHWH's message to the people, saying, I am with you, saysYHWH.
1:14And YHWH stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel a prince of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the work in the House of YHWH of hosts their Elohim.
1:15In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius,
Chapter 2
2:1In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of YHWH by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
2:2Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel prince of Judah, and to Jehoshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
2:3Who is left among you, that saw this House in her first glory, and how do you see it now? Is it not in your eyes, in comparison of it as nothing?
2:4Yet now be of good courage, O Zerubbabel, saysYHWH,and be of good comfort, O Jehoshua, son of Jehozadak the high Priest:and be strong, all the people of the land, saysYHWH,and do it:for I am with you, saysYHWH of hosts,
2:5According to the word that I covenanted with you, when you came out of Egypt:so My Spirit shall remain among you, fear you not.
2:6For thus saysYHWH of hosts, Yet a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, and the sea,and the dry land:
2:7And I will move all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this House with glory, saysYHWH of hosts.
2:8The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saysYHWH of hosts.
2:9The glory of this last House shall be greater than the first, saysYHWH of hosts:and in this place will I give peace, saysYHWH of hosts.
2:10In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of YHWH to the Prophet Haggai, saying,
2:11Thus saysYHWH of hosts, Ask now the Priests concerning the Law,and say,
2:12If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch the bread, or the potage, or the wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the Priests answered and said, No.
2:13Then said Haggai, If a polluted nephesh touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the Priests answered, and said, It shall be unclean.
2:14Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saysYHWH:and so are all the works of their hands, and that which they offer here, is unclean.
2:15And now, please, consider in your minds:from this day,and before, even before a stone was laid upon a stone in the Temple of YHWH:
2:16Before these things were, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the winepress for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
2:17I smote you with blasting, and with mildew, and with hail, in all the labors of your hands:yet you turned not to me, saysYHWH.
2:18Consider, please, in your minds, from this day,and before from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of YHWH's Temple was laid:consider it in your minds.
2:19Is the seed yet in the barn? As yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree has not brought forth:from this day will I bless you.
2:20And again the word of YHWH came to Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
2:21Speak to Zerubbabel the prince of Judah, and say, I will shake the heavens and the earth,
2:22And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen, and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them, and the horse and the riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
2:23In that day, says YHWH of hosts, will I take you, O Rubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, says YHWH, and will make you as a signet: for I have chosen you, says YHWH of hosts.
